Former Man United boss Solskjaer 'on the Club Brugge shortlist'
Former Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ‘on the shortlist to take over at Club Brugge’ as the Belgian side continue search to replace Scott Parker who was sacked in March after just over two months in charge
- Club Brugge target a third manager this season after sacking Scott Parker
- The Belgian club though are also keeping tabs on ex-Celtic chief Ronny Deila
- Julian Nagelsmann’s ex-Bayern Munich assistant Dino Toppmoller is also in line
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been linked with a surprise route back into management at Belgian side Club Brugge.
Brugge have been looking for a new boss for over a month after sacking Scott Parker in March, following the ex-Fulham and Bournemouth manager’s ill-fated time in the dugout that saw him win just two of his 12 games in charge.
Parker had replaced Carl Hoefkens on new year’s eve with the Belgian himself having only taken over last July.
Solskjaer has been out of a role since being sacked at Manchester United in November 2021, just a month shy of three years in the Old Trafford hotseat.
But according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the Norwegian is one of the names in the frame to take over at Brugge.

Solskjaer though can expect competition if he wants to land the job, with Julian Nagelsmann’s former Bayern Munich assistant Dino Toppmoller in the running after he was dismissed along with the German at the Allianz Arena at the end of March.
Ex-Celtic boss Ronny Deila is also being linked with his future at Standard Liege uncertain amid talks over transfer market policy.
Brugge have endured a rollercoaster campaign – highlighted by managing to progress beyond the Champions League group stages for the first time in their history under Hoefkens.

However by the time they were pitched against Benfica in the last-16 Parker was in charge and he could only oversee an aggregate defeat of 7-1 – the second leg 5-1 loss in Lisbon being his final game at the club.
Domestically the Belgian champions are suffering one of their worst campaigns in 16 years as they reside outside of the top four having won the title for the previous three years.
Brugge could still creep back into the top four though – which would take them into a play-off that gives the top two finishers the opportunity to qualify for the Champions League group stage.
Parker remains out of work but could be in the frame to take over from Lee Carsley who manages the England Under 21s, with the former midfielder’s position uncertain beyond this summer’s European Championship.
