Forgotten Premier League cult hero with ‘rocket left foot’ joins club aged 41
Former Blackburn Rovers star Morten Gamst Pedersen has signed for a new club – despite now being 41 years old.
The midfielder left Ewood Park almost a decade ago but is still going strong in his native Norway. Having left Asane earlier this year, he's now joined fellow second division side Ranheim for the 2023 season.
News of his career continuing came as a shock to many Premier League fans who remember his spell at Blackburn from 2004-2013, during which time he registered 113 goal contributions in 348 appearances and became a cult hero.

One commented: "F*** off he's still playing." Another wrote: "I’m shook." While a third joked: "I remember him doing the walking stick celebration like 12 years ago."
"What a baller. Brilliant to see he’s still going," said a fourth. And a fifth recalled: "That rocket of a left foot."
"Could throw the ball about 500ft too," added a sixth, before a seventh claimed: "Was one of my favourites back in the day. Really great player."

Pedersen, who's also played for Turkish side Karabukspor and Rosenborg, Tromso and Alta in his home country since departing England, told the club website: "I'm always excited when I come to a new club, I think it's healthy that my stomach tingles a little."
Ranheim, who have won their first two games of the campaign, play in the colours he used to sport for Blackburn at the peak of his 20-plus year career.
So he added: "The club is blue and white, something I've enjoyed before, so I hope this adventure will be just as good an experience."
