It would be a major coup for Steve Cooper, as Lodi was previously chased by Manchester City

Cooper has already brought in two left backs this summer in Harry Toffolo and Omar Richards.

Atletico are willing to let Lodi go as they have agreed to sign Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon as the 24-year-old’s replacement.

Forest remain in talks with Wolves to sign defender Willy Boly for around £2m.

The Tricky Trees currently sit 12th in the table, with a win, draw and a loss from their opening three games this season.

A win over Spurs tomorrow could see the newly-promoted side enter the top seven.
