Footballer and WAG arrested at Paris airport for carrying 100 kilos of cocaine

A professional footballer and his girlfriend were reportedly arrested at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris at the weekend having been found with 100kg of cocaine in suitcases.

Jean-Manuel Nedra, a former Martinique international and current Aiglon du Lamentin player in their first division, was reportedly placed in pre-trial custody on Sunday (January 1).

French newspaper Le Parisien report that Nedra, 29, was presented in front of an investigating judge with his partner released according to local media.

Nedra made his debut for Martinique back in 2012 having had club spells with US Marinoise, Club Colonial and Golden Lion.

The midfielder also featured at the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, starting against Panama and in a win against Nicaragua.

Nedra's club have since made a statement on the incident, pledging to work to protect young people of the accompany risks.

A statement from his club has said: "Without knowing his degree of involvement, we learned that one of our players was arrested at Roissy (region) for drug smuggling.

"Let us be stronger than ever and united to continue our work of education through sport, to fight against this scourge, to protect and alert our young people to the risks, consequences and abuses of this environment."

Nedra is thought to have been making the trip in a personal capacity rather than for work.
