Football stars continue to poke fun at Ronaldo over $5.2b Coca-Cola stunt
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Coca-Cola saga continues to drag on, but this time, it’s at the expense of the Portuguese superstar.
So much so that Coke and Heineken, the two main brands at the centre of it all, may have found their next ambassador.

The circus began when Ronaldo removed two bottles of Coca-Cola at a press conference and told the gathered media to “drink water” in a move that saw the beverage’s market value drop a whopping $AUD5.2 billion, according to The Athletic.
Paul Pogba was the next star to remove a sponsored drink, in the form of a Heineken bottle. It must be noted Pogba is of Islamic faith and subsequently does not drink alcohol.
The storm Ronaldo started just won’t die as players are starting to have a bit of fun with the beverage situation.
The first star to visibly have a cheeky jab at Ronaldo was Scotland midfielder John McGinn.
As he strode up to the desk for a press conference, he observed the noticeable absence of the beverage on everyone’s mind at the tournament.
Preparing to take his seat, he asked: “Nae coke?”
The Aston Villa star smiled and had the assembled journalists laughing with him, as he took a swig from the water bottle provided.
"Nae coke?" ?

If Ronaldo was watching, he would be nodding his head in approval. Perhaps a can of Irn Bru — a renowned Scottish soft drink — would have made the decision tougher for McGinn.
If the Glasgow native is an ambassador for water along with Ronaldo, then Ukraine’s Andriy Yarmolenko has placed himself firmly in the other camp. The anti-Ronaldo, if you will.
After Ukraine’s 2-1 victory over North Macedonia, in which he bagged his second goal of the tournament, Yarmolenko faced the media and took advantage of the situation.
The 31-year-old forward asked if he could “do something”, and proceeded to move the bottles of Coke and Heineken right in front of him.
“I saw what Ronaldo did,” Yarmolenko said. “But I want to move the Coca-Cola here. And I want to move the beer here. Please contact me!
“Coca-Cola and Heineken, please get in touch!”
'Please contact me, Coke and Heineken!'
Yarmolenko is all of us ?

Yarmolenko may not be the hero they want, but he could very well be the hero they need.
McGinn couldn’t afford to drink anything other than water, as Scotland gears up for a mouth-watering clash against England. The two will face each other at Wembley Stadium in England, with kick-off on Saturday at 5am (AEST).
