Manchester United midfielder Casemiro sent fans wild by pretending to stamp on an injured Christian Eriksen after the League Cup final victory at Wembley.

The Brazilian midfielder played a starring role on Sunday as Manchester United ended a six-year trophy drought by beating Newcastle 2-0. He broke the deadlock with a superb 32nd minute header before going on to clinch the man of the match trophy following a dominant showing in the middle of the park.

And the 31-year-old did not hold back in his celebrations after the final whistle, with Marcus Rashford’s deflected strike off Sven Botman having doubled the Red Devils’ lead.

After United players had all enjoyed a turn at lifting the trophy, Casemiro posed for an on-pitch photo with teammates David de Gea, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez and the injured Eriksen, who was wearing a protective boot on his left foot.

But video footage caught the former Real Madrid star trolling his Danish teammate by pretending to stamp on his injured foot. Casemiro appeared to be loving it as he gave Eriksen a cheeky, before laughing at his own joke.

And fans online couldn’t help but fawn over their midfield general’s antics, with one Twitter user writing: “Casemiro takes no prisoners. Man wants to tackle just about anyone!”

Another United supporter tweeted: “Bros a menace,” while another commented: “He doesn’t want peace.”

A fourth added: “Eriksen just wanted to take pics,” along with a laughing face emoji.

Casemiro has proven critics wrong since his £60million plus-£10m add-ons move from Los Blancos in the summer. Many fans and pundits at the time questioned whether United were once again splashing money on a player who was past his best and merely looking for a big final pay-check, which has since been rubbished.
