Flo Balogun misses two pens as Chelsea fans say ‘thank god we didn’t sign him’

Folarin Balogun missed two penalties for Monaco in their defeat against Nice – leaving Chelsea fans feeling relieved.

The former Arsenal striker moved to Ligue 1 on a permanent deal for an initial £30million in the summer despite being heavily linked to Chelsea. After he scored once across his first two fixtures this time out – his third outing was one to forget.

The 22-year-old had a penalty saved by former Chelsea youth player Marcin Bulka in the 12th minutes low down to the keeper's left with an exact repeat 33 minutes later in the 55th.

The Chelsea connection doesn't end there with former loanee Denis Zakaria playing in defence for the defeated Monaco.

Balogun said on his decision to join Monaco, after scoring 22 goals for Reims last season: "When my agent told me about the opportunity to sign here, I did not hesitate and told him that I wanted to join AS Monaco since it is a great club, with a great history.

"Very great players have notably worn his colours. So it was a simple choice and I wanted it to happen very quickly, even if it is never easy to step out of your comfort zone.

"My loved ones support me a lot and I will do everything to make it the best possible choice."
