Five Tottenham stars need offloading after Newcastle thrashing
Tottenham will have to figure out a way to pick themselves up after suffering an embarrassing 6-1 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday. Express Sport picks out five Spurs players who may no longer have a future at the club beyond this summer.
Hugo Lloris
Hugo Lloris’ future at Tottenham has been up for debate all season long but he didn’t cover himself in glory in the first half. A reported injury led to his substitution at half-time, but it’s hard to imagine the Frenchman playing much more for Tottenham.
He has one year left on his current contract, but a new No 1 looks like a top priority this summer.
Pape Matar Sarr
It’s never a good sign to be subbed off midway through the first half and Pape Matar Sarr will certainly be fearing for his future in north London now. While still being just 20 years of age and seen as a star for the future, Tottenham are in desperate need of experienced heads in midfield and Sarr isn’t there yet.
A loan move may work best for both parties, but it’s hard to see Tottenham turning down a permanent move if an opportunity arises.
Ivan Perisic
Very much an Antonio Conte player, Perisic has not been the same since the Italian left. While still effective in the final third, he got caught out on too many occasions defensively.
The incoming Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies will likely be favoured at left-back by whoever comes in as Tottenham’s next manager as better defensive options.

Dejan Kulusevski
After enjoying a bright start to life at Tottenham following his move a year ago, Kulusevski has proven ineffective for several months now. He’s scored just once in the Premier League since the opening game of the season despite being regularly picked by Stellini.
Bringing in attacking reinforcements will be Tottenham’s main priority this summer – particularly if Harry Kane leaves – and Kuluesevski may need to make way.
Eric Dier
Previously seen as Tottenham’s go-to option at the back, Dier’s stock has fallen in recent weeks. Now might also be the best time for Tottenham to part ways with the England international’s contract expiring next year.
A new partner for Cristian Romero is needed and Dier may fancy a fresh start somewhere else.
