Five potential managers who could become next Tottenham boss
Pressure is growing on Nuno Espirito Santo as Tottenham Hotspur boss after his side lost 0-3 to Manchester United.
The North London club are currently 8 th in the Premier League table but have struggled in the last few weeks.
Things had started well for the Portuguese manager, winning his opening three games, and going into the first international break top of the table.
Since then, it has been a painful few months for the club, with only two victories in their last seven league matches.
They have also been beaten by Vitesse in the Europa Conference League during the same period.
This poor run of form has led to potential crunch talks over the future of Santo, with Daniel Levy reportedly considering terminating his contract.
Here are five potential replacements:
Antonio Conte
Antonio Conte has been linked with a number of jobs since he left Inter Milan in the summer.
He has been tipped by many to take over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford, but Spurs could come in first.
The Italian is a serial winner having won honours with clubs including Juventus and Chelsea.
During his last stint in England, he won the Premier League and the FA Cup across his two seasons.
He most recently won Serie A with Inter Milan, before leaving the club.
Paulo Fonseca
Paulo Fonseca has become the most recent manager to enter the frame for the Tottenham job.
The 48-year-old has been without a job since his departure from Roma in the summer.
His previous club also includes Porto, Braga and Shakhtar Donetsk.
His most successful period as a coach was during his time in Ukraine, winning seven honours in total.
He was linked with a move to North London in summer, but things fell through.
Roberto Martinez
Belgium manager Roberto Martinez would bring a complete contrast in style of play to what Spurs fans have been used to in the last few years.
The former Wigan Athletic and Everton boss is always when a job of this type becomes available, with Newcastle and Barcelona also interested.
It would be hard to tempt him away from the international stage at the moment, as he looks to continue building with Belgium.
Since he was appointed in 2016, he has taken the Red Devils to the top of the world rankings but has failed to secure any silverware.
Should Tottenham give Nuno Espirito Santo more time? Let us know in the comments section.
Eddie Howe
For a long time, Eddie Howe was regularly linked with big jobs during his time with Bournemouth.
The 43-year-old guided the Cherries to the Premier League and helped to make them a solid side in the top tier for a number of seasons.
He departed the club in 2020 following their relegation, with his stock not as high as it what was.
Despite being linked with a number of roles, he is yet to start the next chapter of his career.
He could potentially be an option for Spurs as they look to rebuild, especially if a search is as hard as it was in the summer.
Mauricio Pochettino
Mauricio Pochettino was the man who helped Spurs reach a whole new level in the Premier League.
The Argentine manager developed an outstanding young squad, got them playing good football and guided the club to a Champions League final.
Sacking him in 2019 will still remain a huge regret for the Spurs hierarchy.
It is unlikely he will return as he is currently in charge of PSG, but never say never.
