Brendan Rodgers will not take the Newcastle job, as he is in line to replace Pep Guardiola at Manchester City at the end of next season, according to reports. Rodgers has been heavily linked with Newcastle since the £305million Saudi-led takeover was completed last Thursday.
Antonio Conte, Zinedine Zidane, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Lucien Favre have also been put in the frame to replace Steve Bruce.
According to the Daily Mail, Rodgers will be on a shortlist to succeed Guardiola in 18 months time.
But should City refuse to make an approach for Rodgers, then he could be tempted by a move to the North East.
With that in mind, Express Sport looks at five players Brendan Rodgers could sign at Newcastle if City refuse to make an approach for the Leicester boss.

Philippe Coutinho
Since the takeover was complete, the Brazilian has been one name that continues to be linked with a move to St James’ Park.
Rodgers worked with Coutinho at Liverpool and that could help sway any doubts in the Brazilian’s mind about joining Newcastle.
Coutinho left Liverpool in 2018 in favour of a £146million move to Barcelona, but the move has been anything but successful for the 29-year-old.
He was a standout performer in the Premier League before he left and Newcastle fans will be hoping Rodgers could once again draw the best out of him if the two are re-united once more.

Divock Origi
Another player Rodgers worked with during his time at Anfield.
Origi has struggled for game time at Liverpool in recent times and has mostly been used from the bench.
The Belgium international will forever be remembered for his two crucial goals in the incredible Champions League semi-final comeback against Barcelona as well as another in the final against Tottenham.
Origi had been linked with a move away from the club in the summer, but any move failed to materialise.
But Newcastle could be tempting for Origi, as the 26-year-old would be given more of a chance to prove himself.
Jamie Vardy
As has been a common theme with managers throughout time, Rodgers may raid his former employers.
Vardy is a proven Premier League goalscorer and is just what Newcastle need to give them short-term success and propel them up the table.
The 34-year-old would be a breath of fresh air for Newcastle fans who haven’t seen a consistent, reliable, striker play at St James’ Park for some time now.
Youri Tielemans
Keeping with the theme of former employers, Tielemans has been linked with a whole host of names this summer including the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool.
“There’s no update really. I’m open to everything. The transfer market has just closed, but I want to keep as many options as I can open,” he told Sky Sports.
“As long as I’m here I will give everything for the club. I’ve already done so, but I will do so even more. The contract situation is just something that is going on in football, it’s a normal situation.
“There are talks going on – I’m not saying I’m going to sign, I’m not saying I’m not going to sign. We will see.”
Tielemans scored the winner in the FA Cup final against Chelsea last season and has played a key role in Leicester’s back-to-back fifth place finishes.
Caglar Soyuncu
Newcastle, unlike Leicester, have been woeful defensively in recent years, and one player who could sure that up is Soyuncu.
The 25-year-old Turkey international has been a mainstay for Rodgers’ side for the past two seasons and he could be keen to bring him with him, should the Leicester boss make the move.
Soyuncu has caught the eye of a number of clubs both in the Premier League and abroad, but Leicester have been able to stave off any move for the defender so far.
