- Manchester United have been encouraged to make a bid for Sofyan Amrabat
- The Moroccan midfielder is reportedly seeking a summer move to a ‘top club’
- Fiorentina CEO Giuseppe Barone explained the club would consider an offer
Manchester United have been given a boost in their pursuit of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat as Erik ten Hag seeks further squad reinforcements ahead of the new season.
The Moroccan international has been on the radar of a host of European clubs following an impressive World Cup in Qatar and Serie A season with Fiorentina.
United are weighing up further transfer targets following the signing of Mason Mount from Chelsea and could make a move for Amrabat after being encouraged by one of the club’s directors.
Fiorentina chief executive Giuseppe Barone explained that the Red Devils are yet to make a formal bid for the midfielder but revealed that the club are willing to listen to offers.
‘We have not received any bid or proposal for him at all,’ Barone told reporters via the Metro.

United boss Erik ten Hag (pictured) previously worked with Amrabat and is reportedly keen on the midfielder
‘He’s a Fiorentina player now. If an offer comes, we will consider it,’ he added.
Ten Hag previously worked with Amrabat while coaching in Netherlands at Utrecht where the player enjoyed a breakthrough campaign before joining Feyenoord.
The United boss was a keen admirer of the 26-year-old midfield pragmatism and unyielding capabilities that help break down opposition attacks, a job that largely currently rests on the shoulders of Casemiro.
Amrabat is reportedly keen on making a summer switch to Old Trafford and has been ‘charmed’ by Ten Hag as United weigh up whether to make a formal approach.
In June, the player’s brother Nordin Amrabat who previously played for Watford, explained that his sibling would only leave Italy for a ‘top club’.

‘He wants to go to the top, you are not going to trade Italy for the middle bracket of the Premier League,’ Nordin told ESPN.
‘Of course you never know, it will be a strong competition when you see which names are going.
‘Ten Hag is now looking for a striker, he wants that first. From there he will see what is possible.
‘But I know that Ten Hag is charmed by my brother, he broke through under him and they have a good relationship, so who knows.’
