Final day permutations as Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal fight for Europe
The final day of the Premier League season is upon us.
The title has been sewn up for a while and we already know the three clubs heading down to the Championship next term.
But the race for European football will go down to the wire as eight teams battle it out to secure European football for the 2021/22 campaign.
Two Champions League spots are up for grabs, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Leicester ready to fight for their place in Europe's premier competition.
One will fall into the Europa League with a fifth-placed finish, to be joined by whoever finishes sixth.
West Ham (62 points), Tottenham (59 points) and Everton (59 points) all still in the mix for Europa League qualification.
A spot in the brand new Europa Conference League goes to the EFL Cup winners. However, as Man City won that trophy their place will go to the next highest-ranked team outside of a European spot.
Therefore, Arsenal could secure a place in the competition should they finish seventh.
So what does each team need from the final day?
For third-place Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel knows a win will guarantee the Blues a spot in the Champions League next term. A point will also be enough if Leicester fail to win against Tottenham.
Should Chelsea lose, with Liverpool and Leicester winning, they will fall to fifth-place but could still qualify for the Champions League if they beat Man City in the final of the competition next weekend.
Liverpool simply need to better the result of Leicester to stay in the top four, barring a flukey goal difference swing.
West Ham currently occupy sixth-place and need just one point against Southampton on the final day to finish in that position.
However, if the Hammers lose and Tottenham win then Ryan Mason's men will finish above their London rivals on goal difference.
At present Harry Kane's side will finish in the Europa Conference League spot but could be overtaken by Everton or Arsenal.
The Toffees need to win and hope West Ham lose and Spurs fail to win. But the Gunners need to take all three points and hope Everton and Spurs both fail to win if they want to finish seventh.
Leeds could also nab seventh-spot at the very last minute. But they would need all sides above them to lose…. along with a 15-0 win over West Brom.
