FIFA 22 Beta code sign up, likely release date and how to get a code

As FIFA 22's release date draws closer, EA Sports will soon be releasing the FIFA 22 Beta, to try and get feedback on the game before it's officially released.

The FIFA 22 Beta will likely be released in August, around two months before the final FIFA 22 game is eventually released. We know this because previous Beta versions of FIFA 21, FIFA 20, FIFA 19, FIFA 18, FIFA 17, FIFA 15 and FIFA 14 have all been released in August before their initial release date.

For example, the FIFA 21 Beta was released on PS4 and Xbox One on August 12, 2020.

The reason why EA Sports release a Beta of their new FIFA title every year is to get feedback on gameplay and game modes, suggest changes to the final game and find any potential bugs or issues before the final version of the game is released.

Historically, there are two batches of FIFA 22 Beta codes that are sent out, one wave at the start of August and another final batch towards the end. So, if you miss out on a code in the first wave, you may receive one in the second wave.

The first batch of codes for the FIFA 22 Closed Beta are expected to be released around August 11, 2021 , with the second batch of codes expected to be released around August 25, 2021 .

Unfortunately, every previous EA Sports FIFA Beta has been a closed beta. This means that only a select number of players from across the UK and the US will get an invite to the FIFA 22 Beta.

For FIFA 22, there's been some speculation that only players with next-gen consoles such as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S console will be invited to test the FIFA 22 Beta this year. This has yet to be confirmed, but looking back on previous years, it's safe to say that FIFA 22 Beta codes won't be available for PC, Nintendo Switch or mobile.

There's no guaranteed way of getting a FIFA 22 Closed Beta invite, unless you're a FUT Champions verified player, but there are some things you can do to increase your chances of being invited to test the FIFA 22 Beta.

First, make sure you've given EA consent to contact you via email.

You'll find this option within the Email Preferences tab in your EA Account settings on EA.com. Make sure the box titled 'Yes, email me about EA's products, news, events and promotions consistent with the EA Privacy and Cookie Policy' is ticked.

On the same tab, you'll also see a preferred games section, make sure that you've selected FIFA titles and you've selected your preferred platform at the bottom, then click update.

Finally, make sure that your Xbox Live or PSN account is linked to your EA account. You can find this on the Connections tab in your EA Account settings on EA.com.

There are also a few basic requirements that you need to fulfil to be selected to play the FIFA 22 Closed Beta.

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Your Xbox/PS account must be from the UK or North America
  • An internet connection
  • An active subscription to either Xbox Live Gold or PS Plus

If you fulfil all the above requirements, agreed to email consent and link your Xbox Live and PSN accounts to your EA account, you've given yourself the best chance of getting a FIFA 22 Closed Beta invite.

Here are some other key points about the FIFA 22 Beta. If you are provided with a FIFA 22 Beta code, it will be linked to your personal Xbox/PSN/EA account, so FIFA 22 Beta codes cannot be shared, swapped or sold.

So, if you get a message or email from someone who is apparently 'selling' a FIFA 22 Beta code, don't buy it, it's a scam.

FIFA 22 Closed Beta codes are only sent via email by EA directly. If you do receive one, congratulations!

But remember, by playing the FIFA 22 Beta you'll have agreed to a confidentiality clause, this means that you won't be able to divulge any information about the FIFA 22 Beta, share any video or stream it.

FIFA 22 will be released in the UK and worldwide on Friday, October 1, 2021 and it's available to pre-order now.
