Rio Ferdinand has aired his dismay with Manchester United after their latest humiliation saw them crash to a stunning 4-0 defeat by Brighton yesterday.
Hopeless United were left humiliated and officially out of the Champions League race following their loss on the south coast, with supporters furiously telling the players that they were ‘not fit to the wear the shirt’ during the second half.
They have been criticised often this season over their lack of character and, in the wake of their latest catastrophic setback, club legend Ferdinand did not hold back.

However, rather than focusing on the limp nature of the performance, he instead directed his fury at the missing ‘fight’ from the team and those ‘downing tools’.
Speaking on the latest episode of his FIVE podcast, Ferdinand said: ‘It has got to the stage where you can’t even put up a fight as a Man United fan.

Ferdinand has lamented the Red Devils for getting ‘mocked every week’ after their humiliations
‘We have gone down to Brighton to the seaside for a day out. We got pumped and sent back home.
‘There is no fight, there is no character and it seems there is no desire. People have downed tools it seems.’
Brighton secured all three points after Moises Caicedo, a one-time United target, Marc Cucurella, Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard found the net at the Amex.
Cristiano Ronaldo was even caught laughing in disbelief after the third goal for the Seagulls, with more question marks now lingering over his Old Trafford future.
Ralf Rangnick issued an apology to United supporters and said his side ‘weren’t good enough’
Ferdinand believes that the side’s collapse this weekend is a damning indictment of where they currently stand – and he again pointed fingers at the dressing room.
‘We are getting smashed 4-0 at Brighton,’ he added. ‘Listen, they are a decent team, but United shouldn’t be getting beat 4-0 like that.
‘This is a terrible situation and I really wonder what it is like in that changing room.
‘Is there anyone standing up? Are there any characters that are picking people up or is everyone in there thinking that it has gone now? We have gone and that is it.’
