Fed-up Scholes fires ruthless rant at Man Utd over “lack of interest and plan”
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes launched an almighty tirade against his former club following their 1-1 draw against Southampton on Saturday.
The 47-year-old, who never seems to pull punches when it comes to United, slammed Ralf Rangnick's side for being "all over the place" and lacking any sort of centralised plan.
"I think that’s the feeling around the place. There’s a lack of interest now. It’s been a bad seven days, it’s been really a bad six or seven months," Scholes told his BT Sports colleagues.
"The season’s not been good enough – [Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's sacking] was coming. We all knew that, we all felt that but where was the plan?"
He then questioned the club's decision to hire appoint Rangnick as interim coach, insisting that the German isn't experienced enough at the top level.
"To not have a plan and to bring in what is technically a sporting director, I think he's coached a team two years out of the last ten years," Scholes added.
"Don't get me wrong, I like the man … [but] he looks like he lacks experience in coaching over the last few years, his team, they're a team of individuals."
Jadon Sancho had given the Red Devils the lead after just 21 minutes by tapping home Marcus Rashford's cross, but Southampton equalised just after restart through Che Adams.
Bruno Fernandes was fortunate to stay on the pitch after swinging a right hook at James Ward-Prowse while Cristiano Ronaldo failed to get on the scoresheet yet again, extending his goal drought to six games – his longest since 2009.

"We have to give Southampton credit they were brilliant today. The methods, the patterns of play, the two centre-forwards, the midfielders, they were fantastic," Scholes added.
"You look at United, they were all over the place. This game isn't always about being in possession, sometimes you need to do things that give you a bit of pain, you don't like doing it.
"So often this team jogs back and it's so easy to play against."
The draw means United have missed the chance to leapfrog West Ham into fourth place in the Premier League.
It also means that Arsenal, Tottenham and Wolves are now all mathematically able to climb above Rangnick's side, should they win their games in hand.
