Fans speechless as Stuart Dallas ‘forgot to shoot’ and wastes open goal chance
Fans were left speechless as Stuart Dallas wasted a golden chance to score after being left with an open goal during Leeds United's loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
Marcelo Bielsa's side were thrashed 4-0 at home by Spurs on Saturday as relegation fears continue to mount at Elland Road.
However, Leeds did have the chance to claim a consolation goal and potentially kickstart a comeback with the score at 3-0 during the second half.
Dallas had caught out Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris 40 yards from goal, giving him an empty net to put the ball into with the keeper stranded in no man's land.
Fans were left in shock, though, as the Northern Ireland international delayed shooting and instead dribbled into the Spurs penalty area.
As he made his way into the box, two Spurs defenders were able to get back and defend before his eventual shot was blocked by Ben Davies.
This left fans of both Leeds and other clubs united in their disbelief as they took to social media to react to Dallas' missed opportunity.
One fan tweeted: “Leeds only have themselves to blame… What was Stuart Dallas doing staring at an empty net and not shooting??”

Another added: “Stuart Dallas should have his contract terminated for that.”
A third also wrote: “Stuart Dallas really forgot what to do in front of an empty goal.”
Another supporter tweeted: “That Stuart Dallas chance?? Nah, man’s an idiot. No other explanation.”
Spurs were able to add a fourth through Son Heung-min late on following the miss, as Antonio Conte's side further compounded Leeds' relegation fears.
Following Saturday's heavy defeat, which came just three days after a 6-0 loss to Liverpool, Leeds are just three points above the relegation zone.
In addition, the three sides immediately below them, Everton, Newcastle United and Burnley all have multiple games in hand.
