Fans on social media have ripped into Cristiano Ronaldo after footage of the superstar claiming he wants to ‘finish at the top level’ resurfaced online.

Ronaldo confirmed his move to the Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr on a sensational £175million-a-year contract following his tumultuous Manchester United exit in November.

And afterwards, users online were quick to bring to light a video of Ronaldo listing ‘USA, Qatar or Dubai’ as places he couldn’t envision playing at later in his career.

Footage resurfaced to show Cristiano Ronaldo saying he wants to ‘finish at the top level’

Ronaldo has officially signed for Saudi club Al-Nassr on a sensational £175million-a-year deal

In the clip, Ronaldo boldly claims: ‘In my mind, I want to finish in the top level. I want to finish with dignity. At a good club.

‘It doesn’t meant that going to USA, Qatar or Dubai is not good, but I don’t see myself [doing that].’

The fan who posted the video captioned it: ‘Aged like milk’. They also added a picture of Ronaldo in the Al-Nassr kit to emphasise the hypocrisy of his statement.

It didn’t take long for other users to get involved, with one writing: ‘My goat let money get in the way of dignity I’m finished’.

‘His own mouth really put him in this laughable situation,’ another brutally claimed.

Part of his role as an ambassador will be to help Saudi Arabia’s joint bid with Egypt and Greece to host the 2030 World Cup, it has been claimed.

Fans ripped into the superstar after seeing the clip – following his big-money move to Al-Nassr

‘What changed, so he lost is dignity then?’, another fan said.

One user made a witty remark, as he wrote: ‘”finish at the top level”, more like finished at the top level’.

Others went for more blunt takes, writing: ‘The irony’. Another similarly claimed: ‘This aged terribly’.

His decision to move to Saudi Arabia effectively ends his career at the top level. It is thought Ronaldo had been hoping to secure a switch to a Champions League club but it never materialised.

Ronaldo had admitted rumours of a €350m (£310m) offer for two seasons from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club in the summer were true – an offer he had declined.

Ronaldo had initially dismissed reports that he was set to sign for the Saudi outfit, with sources close to the player telling Sportsmail it was ‘nonsense’ that a deal had been signed.

Al-Nassr are one of the most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia, having being crowned winners of the country’s top flight nine times, with their most recent triumph coming in 2019.

Ronaldo had previously been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and Napoli after stunning United officials by telling the club he wanted out in the summer transfer window.
