Fans savage Rangers after using The Queen as reason to delay season ticket sales

Rangers have become the subject of mass ridicule after bizarrely delaying their season ticket renewal deadline due to The Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The Gers, who clinched the Scottish Cup on Saturday a matters of days after suffering penalty heartbreak at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League final, took to Twitter to inform supporters that the deadline for their season ticket renewals had been adjusted. The Scottish Premiership club revealed that the previous deadline of Friday 3rd June had now been extended to Monday 6th June to accommodate The Queen of all people.

Their post read: "In recognition of Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee, the Club has decided to further postpone the 2022/23 Season Ticket renewal deadline to Monday 6th June." As you would expect, the responses were hilariously savage.

Baffled football fans came out in force to express their disbelief at the peculiar post and ridicule Rangers over the decision. One wrote, "I had to check this wasn’t a parody!" while another said, "This canny be real."

"I've said it before, I'll say it again. The weirdest club in football," read one post, while another supporter added: "The weirdness levels through the roof with this. 1000 staunch points for bringing the Queen into Season Ticket renewal." One fan even branded Rangers "the gift that keeps on giving".

Another particularly embarrassed Rangers fan added: "This deserves all the ridicule possible. In fact, hand that Scottish Cup back. Go down the divisions again and we’ll start from scratch again. That is fair punishment for this. Wow."
