Fans left in stitches at Perus X-rated attempt to stop Neymar in Brazil clash

Football fans have been left making all sorts of puns after seeing Peru's X-rated attempt to stop Neymar during Thursday night's World Cup qualifying clash.

The Selecao secured a 2-0 victory over Peru in Recife to continue their perfect record in the South American table to reach Qatar 2022.

Everton Riberio opened the scoring after just 14 minutes thanks to an assist from Neymar, before the Paris-Saint Germain forward grabbed a goal for himself just five minutes from time.

Neymar looked very lively throughout the clash, and was involved in a number of scuffles as Peru did their best to stop him.

At one stage though, Anderson Santamaria took matters into his own hands with one challenge on the touchline.

Trying to pull Neymar back after he'd got the better of him, pictures clearly showed he grabbed the 29-year-old in a rather tender area.

The images went viral on social media platforms Reddit and Twitter, prompting many to share their hilarious gags.

Neymar once again came in for criticism during the clash with Peru, despite his goal and assist.

And he hit back at the critics after the match.

"I don’t know what more I need to do in this shirt for the fans to respect Neymar," said the former Barcelona man.

Neymar also scored in the 1-0 win over Chile last week, having been labelled 'overweight' in the build-up.
