Fans left howling as commentator botches Seedorf wondergoal call in Game4Ukraine

AC Milan legend Clarence Seedorf rolled back the years on Saturday evening as he netted a wonder goal in a charity match.

Seedorf was participating in the inaugural Game 4 Ukraine – which aimed to raise money to help rebuild Ukraine's facilities and infrastructure damaged by Russia's ongoing invasion. Seedorf was part of Team Shevchenko, when he curled the ball home.

However, football fans were left howling at the commentator mistaking Seedorf for ex-England star Jermain Defoe in the build-up. Fans were quick to point out that he said: "Defoe turning," before quickly correcting the individual after seeing Seedorf in a close-up.

"Not going to mention the fact he says Defoe turning," one fan joked. While another said: "I cringed when the commentator confused Seedorf for Defoe!"

"Swear he said Defoe turning, anyway… We need midfielders. Sign him up (Seedorf that is)," a Liverpool fan joked. And a fourth said: "Commentator called him Defoe before he bagged…"

"Defo not Defoe that," a fifth joked. And another added: "What a player Seedorf was, he was and clearly still is, an incredible player!"

Oleksandr Zinchenko was captaining the game for the yellow team, having been given permission from Arsenal the day before the Community Shield against Manchester City.

Zinchenko suffered an injury during pre-season, and Mikel Arteta recently confirmed he was close to a return: "He's close. I think he's going to start training with the team and hopefully, we will have him back very soon."

Mykhaylo Mudryk was also part of the game, that was hosted at Stamford Bridge.
