Fans in hysterics as Gary Neville is awkwardly informed he’s ‘love of my life’

Gary Neville was left a little red-faced after a Manchester United fan professed his undying love to him live on air.

Prior to United's emphatic victory over Liverpool, Neville headed around Old Trafford to interview supporters and find out how confident they were about the upcoming match, though was taken aback by one man who immediately changed the subject.

"Let me first say, you are the love of my life," the supporter told Neville. "You gave me a lot of Premier League titles [and] I absolutely enjoyed watching you and I'm honoured to meet you."

Clearly surprised at being shown such tender affection, Neville was slightly lost for words, mustering a semi-awkward, "oh right that's brilliant thanks", in response.

Awkwardness aside, fans on social media were absolutely loving it, with one tweeting: "Neville, you've pulled!"

"Grab your coat, @GNev," wrote another, while a third joked: "Must be the first time anyone's ever told Neville that."

Neville's night got even better an hour or so later as Erik ten Hag's side stormed to a 2-1 victory over Liverpool – their first league win over Jurgen Klopp's side since 2018.

Jadon Sancho put United deservedly in front in the first half before Marcus Rashford doubled the hosts' advantage after the break. Mo Salah pulled one back for the visitors late on, but United held to seal all three points to lift them off the foot of the table – and deliciously – ahead of Liverpool.
