Fans give Jesus ‘ten out of ten’ after Arsenal star ‘threw himself to the floor’

Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus was given "10 out of 10" as rivals fans accused him of diving to win his penalty against Leeds United.

Jesus, who was making his first Premier League start since November, won a spot kick which he converted in the first half at the Emirates. After he'd avoided a tackle from Rasmus Kristensen, Luke Ayling's outstretched leg collided with his knee.

The Leeds defender had no complaints after referee Darren England pointed to the spot – but many viewers weren't happy with Jesus' theatrical fall to the ground.

One posted a gif from The Simpsons of three judges showing scores of 10 with the caption: "Jesus' score for the dive."

Another tweeted: "I know there’s contact on Jesus but that’s still a dive. He threw himself to the floor."

A third questioned: "How is that a pen…. Clear dive from Jesus." And a fourth quipped: "Jesus dive for penalty. Who would have thought."

"That’s a nasty dive Jesus well done," sarcastically wrote a fifth, while a sixth claimed: "Jesus that is the biggest dive I’ve ever seen."

Jesus dusted himself off and sent goalkeeper Illan Meslier the wrong way to give the Gunners the lead. Shortly after the break Ben White doubled it as he tapped home Gabriel Martinelli's cross.

And Jesus soon had his second of the afternoon, finishing first time from Leandro Trossard's low ball across the box. Kristensen did draw one back for the visitors, but Granit Xhaka restored the three-goal advantage

Mikel Arteta's men claimed a convincing 4-1 victory to build the gap to Manchester City back up to eight points after their 4-1 win against Liverpool in the early kick-off.
