Fans fume at Foden as Silva is robbed of ‘assist of the season’ vs Liverpool
Phil Foden missed a glorious chance to open the scoring for Manchester City away at Liverpool – which fans believe robbed Bernardo Silva of "assist of the season".
City are taking on their Premier League rivals at Anfield, with both teams looking to claim three points and leapfrog Chelsea at the top of the table.
It was Pep Guardiola's side who came closest to breaking the deadlock in a dominant first half, squandering a number of wonderful opportunities.
Foden fluffed the best of the lot, failing to convert past Alisson after being teed up in the box by the brilliant Silva.
The latter produced a sensational mazy run beforehand; first spinning 360 degrees with the ball to beat Jordan Henderson and Andy Robertson on the halfway line, before cutting inside past Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho and picking out Foden with an inch-perfect pass.
However, it did not result in an opener on Merseyside, as Alisson closed down the England star and saved his attempt.
