Fans cringe at Robbie Savage’s ‘West Ham are massive’ commentary
Fans were left cringing at Robbie Savage after his bizarre “West Ham are massive” remark on commentary.
The Hammers took the lead in their Europa Conference League final clash with Fiorentina on Wednesday. David Moyes’ side had been gifted a penalty after Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biraghi’s handball just after the hour mark.
Said Benrahma thundered in his strike from the spot to spark wild scenes at the Eden Arena in Prague, with the West Ham fans celebrating emphatically.
But their celebrations were oddly shared by BT Sport co-commentator Savage – who never played for the Irons during his career.

“Like West Ham, West Ham are massive,” Savage roared, referencing the “West Ham are massive, everywhere we go” chant belted out by the Hammers faithful.
And viewers were left confused at why the Welshman was so overjoyed, taking to Twitter to poke fun at his dramatic quote.

One Twitter user wrote: “Robbie Savage screaming ‘West Ham are massive’ is so cringe.” Another tweeted: “Robbie Savage just said West Ham are massive and this has got me feeling dirty and disgusted.”
A third added: “Never thought I’d hear Robbie Savage say West Ham are MASSIVE.” And a fourth commented: “Robbie Savage saying West Ham are massive live on commentary is up there as the most embarrassing things ever.”
Savage’s comment appeared to come prematurely as Fiorentina equalised just five minutes later courtesy of some fabulous technique from Giacomo Bonaventura.
But the ex-midfielder delivered another stunning soundbite following Jarrod Bowen's last minute winner, saying: "Oh, they'll be blowing bubbles now!"
He went on to call West Ham massive several more times as they secured a historic 2-1 victory, as well as yelling: "Go on Moyesy" during David Moyes' celebrations.
