Peter Drury's debut on Sky Sports had fans "celebrating" before a ball had even been kicked in Chelsea vs Liverpool.
The experienced commentator, 55, has replaced Martin Tyler as Sky's lead Premier League commentator for the new season. Viewers had to wait until the main event of Super Sunday to hear him for the first time.
But it was worth the wait, with many taking to Twitter pre-match to hail his dulcet tones. One posted: "Celebrated hearing Peter Drury’s voice like a goal went in."
A second argued: "Martin Tyler to Peter Drury is the biggest upgrade ever." And a third claimed: "Peter Drury on Sky Sports has been the biggest signing of the season."

"Peter Drury might actually make me take the comms off mute this season," commented a fourth, while a fifth added: "Peter Drury on Sky Sports – something that should’ve happened many, many years ago."
A sixth wrote: "Peter Drury, a breath of fresh air on Sky." Before a seventh added: "Peter Drury commentating is football poetry."

Drury, who was joined by Monday Night Football duo Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher in the gantry at Stamford Bridge, had showed off his notes for the match in the hours before kick-off in a clip uploaded on Sky's social media accounts.
He's worked for a number of different companies during his 30-plus year career, including ITV, BT and Amazon. Before joining Sky, he was NBC's go-to man behind the mic for their coverage of Prem matches.
It's believed he'll continue to present for the US audience despite his new role as NBC is a part of the Comcast group, which also owns Sky. Tyler, 77, departed Sky in June after 33 years working for them.
