FA Cup predictions: Every FA Cup fourth round tie predicted
FA Cup: Football Digest panel preview fourth round
The standout tie of the round sees Manchester United host Liverpool just a week on from their goalless draw in the Premier League, with fans hoping for a more entertaining affair in the FA Cup. The fourth round begins on Friday night as Wolves travel to Chorley, the lowest-ranked team left in the competition.
Holders Arsenal will look to continue their recent resurgence with a testing trip to Southampton before a Premier League meeting three days later.
Leicester and Manchester City are both in fine form ahead of their trips to Brentford and fourth-tier Cheltenham respectively.
Chelsea get a welcome break from the Premier League as Frank Lampard’ faltering side host Championship outfit Luton.
With plenty of FA Cup action to come, Express Sport has consulted the Betfair Exchange to round up some predictions.
The figures shown are based on how fans have been betting on each of the games.
Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Manchester United and Liverpool meet in the pick of the ties in the fourth round of the FA Cup and punters on Betfair Exchange believe they can’t be separated with both sides given a 37% chance of winning, while there’s a 26% chance the sides can’t be separated after 90 minutes.
“Minows Chorley’s next opponent, Wolves, is their toughest obstacle yet and there’s just a 3% chance that they’ll be belting out ‘Someone Like You’ to celebrate victory.
“Wolves are overwhelming favourites and have an 88% chance of winning, while a draw is 9%.
“Elsewhere, League Two Cheltenham Town welcome Pep Guardiola and Manchester City to Whaddon Road.
“The Robins have an 8% chance of producing one of the biggest shocks in FA Cup history, while a routine win for City is 88% likely.
“City were beaten in last year’s FA Cup final by Arsenal but are the clear favourite to go one better this season and lift the trophy for a second time in three years with a 29% chance of winning the competition.
“Chelsea are their nearest rivals and Frank Lampard’s side have a 12% chance of winning, while Tottenham are 10% likely, Liverpool 9%, and Manchester United and Leicester 7%.”
