Ex-Shrewsbury striker and fashion designer dies aged 38 as tributes flood in

Tributes have been paid to former Shrewsbury and Plymouth forward turned fashion designer Marvin Morgan following his tragic passing at the age of just 38.

The Manchester born striker played for a string of Football League clubs throughout a 20-year career that came to an end after a spell with Potters Bar Town in 2020.

Morgan was also known for his fashion brand Fresh Ego Kid, which was worn by several notable professional stars as well as musicians and celebrities.

Shrewsbury released a club statement over Marvin's untimely passing on Monday afternoon, sending their love to his friends and family at this difficult time.

Their statement reads: "Shrewsbury Town Football Club is deeply saddened to receive news that Marvin Morgan has tragically passed away aged just 38.

"A Salop fan favourite and a cult hero, Marvin joined Shrewsbury Town in 2011 and spent two seasons in Shropshire and was a key part in Town’s second-place promotion to Sky Bet League One.

"During those two successful seasons, Marvin provided many happy memories for the Salopian family and found the back of the net on 18 occasions.

"Whilst in SY2, Marvin established his brand Fresh Ego Kid, initiating a long-standing and positive association with the club."

Hampton & Richmond Borough FC wrote on Twitter: "The club is shocked to hear of the passing of former player Marvin Morgan.

"Marvin played for the Beavers in 2017 and was a hugely respected figure in non-league football.

"Our thoughts are with Marvin’s friends and family at this extremely difficult time."

With Plymouth Argyle saying: "We join with the football community in expressing our shock and sadness at the passing of Marvin Morgan.

"An infectious character, Marvin made 42 appearances for the club between 2013-15, scoring three times.

"Our thoughts are with his friends and family."

Aldershot Town said: "Aldershot Town Football Club is deeply saddened to hear that former player Marvin Morgan has passed away at just 38 years old.

"The Club would like to send our most sincere condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time. Rest in Peace, Marvin."

Dagenham & Redbridge add: "Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club is saddened to have heard the news of Marvin Morgan's passing at the age of 38.

"Our sincere condolences go out to Marvin's family and friends at this difficult time."
