Ex-Real Madrid star Marcelo leaves pitch in tears after ‘worst ever leg break’

Former Real Madrid left-back Marcelo left the pitch in tears after being sent off for what is being described by supporters as one of the ‘worst leg breaks in football’. The 35-year-old was playing for Fluminense on Tuesday evening in the Copa Libertadores clash against Argentinos Juniors when the horrific incident occurred.

Mid-motion, Marcelo inadvertently stood directly on the leg of opponent Luciano Sanchez causing a devastating injury.

Replays of the event are not for the faint-hearted as you can immediate see the damage that is caused following the unfortunate collision.

Argentine Sanchez was left screaming on the pitch as he was instantly consoled by his team-mates.

Marcelo received a straight red card for his troubles and left the pitch crying and in visible distress.
