Ex-Premier League winner tells Ronaldo to ‘shut up’ as Man Utd fallout continues
Former Premier League defender Glen Johnson insists Cristiano Ronaldo needs to "shut up" and be a team player as the fallout from his controversial Old Trafford walk-off continues.
The 37-year-old petulantly headed down the tunnel during Manchester United's 2-0 win over Tottenham last week after discovering he wasn't going to be brought on as a sub, sparking a fierce reaction from football fans all over the world.
Most have criticised Ronaldo's behaviour, though some have accused United manager Erik ten Hag of stoking the flames by disrespecting, and even humiliating the forward by not playing him, though ex-Chelsea, Liverpool and West Ham star Johnson says he agrees with the former.

"Respect is mutual. No player can do what they want, the team is more important than one player, I don't care who it is," Johnson told Midnite.
"Both Ten Hag and Ronaldo need to show respect to each other, of course, Ronaldo deserves respect for what he's done. But then he needs to respect his manager.
"If the team is winning, players who are not playing need to shut up, there's a time and a place when you're banging on the manager's door, and that's when you're not playing when the team is losing every week."

Not only did Ronaldo head for the dressing room before the Tottenham game was over, he left the stadium before his team-mates even left the field. He was left out of United's trip to Chelsea on Saturday as punishment.
It was the second time under Ten Hag that Ronaldo had pulled such a move. He left Old Trafford at half-time during a pre-season game against Rayo Vallecano in July, something United's Dutch manager later branded "unacceptable".
Johnson made over 350 Premier League appearances over the course of his career, with notable spells at Liverpool, Portsmouth and Chelsea, where he won two league titles.
