Ex-Man Utd star Pogba faces four-year ban from football after trial is concluded

Paul Pogba could be facing a four-year ban from football after the trial into his alleged doping has been concluded.

Pogba tested positive for testosterone during a doping test performed after Juventus' victory at Udinese on 20 August. And the Frenchman also produced a positive sample in a counter-analysis B-sample at the start of October.

Gazzetta dello Sport are now reporting that the doping prosecutor in Italy has asked for a four-year-long ban to be imposed on the midfielder. A four-year ban is the most severe punishment and no plea deal has been put forward by the player.

Pogba moved back to Juventus last summer after his Manchester United contract expired – but he struggled for fitness during his first season back at the Allianz Stadium.

The Frenchman was named in the matchday squad for their clash with Udinese at the start of the season, but he was an unused substitute.

Pogba's agent, Rafaela Pimenta stressed that the Juve star didn't want to break the rules. Pimenta, said: "We are waiting for the counter analysis and until then we can't say anything. The certain thing is that Paul Pogba never wanted to break the rules."
