Ravel Morrison has been showing off his bruises after the former Manchester United ace had a brutal MMA training session with UFC star Lerone Murphy.

Morrison was compared by Sir Alex Ferguson to United legends Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes when he was just 15 years old.

But the attacking midfielder, now 28, is without a club after leaving Dutch side Den Haag in January.

The Eredivisie outfit was Morrison's 11th club since he left United – but he is not letting his knockbacks keep him down after swapping the football pitch for the octagon.

After a punishing session with featherweight Murphy, the former wonderkid took to Instagram to show off a huge bruise on his shoulder.

Morrison captioned the picture "Grappling and striking with my new coach".

The Manchester-born Jamaica international played in the same FA Youth Cup-winning side as Paul Pogba, but despite being hailed as the next big thing and he didn't make it and joined West Ham in 2012, with the Hammers paying £700,000 for his services.

He has been in talks with Championship and La Liga clubs ass he targets his next move, following spells at Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, Ostersund and Lazio.

Huddersfield are among the clubs weighing up a potential move for Morrison, while he also trained with Sheffield Wednesday last month.

Last month, United legend Rio Ferdinand hosted Morrison on his YouTube Channel FIVE.

Ferdinand read out a text from legendary manager Ferguson, telling his former club-mate: "Sir Alex Ferguson texted me this morning and said you was on a par with Scholes and Giggs at 15. He's never seen anything like it."

He read out another message from Fergie which said: "Rio, my first and last impression of Ravel as a young lad was that he has always got time and space, always available to be on the ball, so unusual for a young lad of his age.
