Former Manchester City star Robinho has lost his appeal against his conviction for the gang rape of a woman in Milan.
The Supreme Court in Rome upheld Robinho's nine-year prison sentence on Wednesday.
The sentence was previously upheld in December, 2020.
In 2017, Robinho, and five other Brazilians, had been found guilty of the gang rape a 22-year-old Albanian woman.
The incident occurred in 2013 when he was an AC Milan player.
However, Robinho is unlikely to serve any prison time as he is currently in Brazil, and the Brazilian constitution bans the extradition of its citizens, reports BBC.
But Italian authorities can request he serves his sentence in Brazil.
Robinho is currently a free agent, with his last side being his boyhood club Santos.
Santos' acquisition of the forward was met with widespread criticism.
And one of Santos' main sponsors threatened to pull out of the club due to Robinho's impeding hearing – which he subsequently lost.
The 37-year-old had rejoined Santos on October 10, 2020, but the backlash centring around the deal led to his contract being cancelled six days later.
Robinho was Manchester City's first signing under Sheikh Mansour, when he moved to the blue half of Manchester on Deadline Day in 2008.
However, after a fast start, Robinho struggled for the Citizens, and he was sold to AC Milan in 2010.
