Ex-Liverpool transfer guru lined up to spearhead Newcastle’s mega-money splurge

Former Liverpool transfer guru Frank McParland is expected to join Newcastle United and spearheaded their transfer dealings for 'world-class players'.

Newcastle were taken over by the PIF group backed by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, making them the wealthiest side in club football.

And the Magpies have promised their fans with 'world-class' signings as they begin their assault on the Premier League title.

However, they need someone in the boardroom to negotiate the deals.

And Newcastle, according to The Times, are looking at former Liverpool man McParland, who was most recently in the board room at Championship side Nottingham Forest.

Amanda Severely, who helped negotiate the deal, told The Sun: “We are in the market to compete for world-class players.

“We have great ambitions – I hope it’s going to be a game-changer for Newcastle United.

"But if you don’t put the infrastructure around that world-class player and you don’t have a team that can play with him, you’ll get nowhere."

Severely will be hoping to combine talent brought in to St James Park with academy graduates that will be named alongside Paul Gascoigne, Alan Shearer and Chris Waddle as local heroes.
