Ex-footballer, 27, bursts with emotion as £1m lottery win caught on camera
Former Sheffield United defender Terry Kennedy was seen bursting with emotion as he found out he’d just won £1million on the lottery.
Kennedy, who turned 27 on Monday, was given a late birthday treat on Wednesday when he found out the news.
The former defender’s career was cut short in 2018 when he was forced to retire from professional footballer following a series of injuries.
A video of his lottery win was uploaded to social media in which Kennedy can be seen nervously waiting for confirmation of his winning ticket from what appears to be a member of lottery staff on the other end of the line on loudspeaker.
The ODDSbible Twitter post also posted a caption which reads: “Do you want to sit down”, accompanied by a laughing emoji.
“Imagine getting a phone call to say you’ve won £1m on the lottery,” followed by another laughing emoji.
The lottery staff member can be heard saying on the phone: “Lovely… Terry. Are you ready?”
To which Kennedy replied: “No I don’t think I am!” before both burst out laughing.
The worker then asked: “Do you want to sit down? I can confirm that you have won £1m.”
The announcement was met with huge cheers as Kevin and his work colleagues celebrated confirmation of his win.
Kennedy was left in a state of shock as he came to terms with the fact that he had just won a seven-figure sum on a lottery ticket.
The ex-defender made his debut for the Blades in 2011, before departing the club five years later after making 19 appearances, with a loan at Cambridge United in between.
Kennedy then went on to play for the likes of Alfreton Town and Harrogate Town in the National League North until his early retirement three years ago.
