Ex-England boss who gave David Beckham captaincy now managing in eighth division
England caretaker boss Peter Taylor had just one game in charge of the Three Lions – but he handed David Beckham England captaincy during his short spell.
However, two weeks before his 70th birthday, Taylor has taken over Maldon and Tiptree in the Isthmian League North. Maldon and Tiptree are located in Essex, and they play in the eighth tier.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Taylor said: "I would be telling a lie if I said that I'd turn down the Tottenham Hotspur job if they called me, but something like that is not going to happen.

"I'm not big enough to say I'm not going to work at a lower level, so when Maldon & Tiptree got in touch and asked if I was up for it, I didn't hesitate.
“There is potential to help some good young players to develop, and push them towards careers in the League, which is right up my street. I was enjoying scouting for Northampton.
"But the chance of going back on the training pitch again, and getting the boots on two or three days a week, appealed to me. I've got four grandkids who keep me occupied and this suits my lifestyle."
