Ex-England ace branded ‘next Matt Le Tissier’ over ‘Great Awakening’ theory

Ex-England ace Rickie Lambert has faced cruel taunts from supporters on social media for his "Great Awakening" conspiracy theory.

The former Liverpool and Southampton striker, who hit 31 goals across his four full seasons in the Premier League, surprised fans when a tweet was posted online revealing his own personal thesis at 1am on Tuesday morning

Historically referring to moments of spiritual revival in American Christian history, the "Great Awakening" has coined new meaning since the outbreak of Covid-19 with some still affirming that the pandemic was a hoax.

And while not delving into the traumatic events of previous years, Lambert explained his own supposition on the matter. "Hello, Rickie Lambert here. I just wanted to tell the people what I think the Great Awakening is," says the former footballer at the start of the three-and-a-half-minute-long video.

"Now, I know a lot of us critical thinkers say the Great Awakening is coming and the Great Awakening is going to save us. No one’s ever told us what the Great Awakening is.

"Now, we all thought it is everyone realising how the world works, who owns it, who rules it, stuff like that. I don’t think it is. I don’t think it is. What I think the Great Awakening is [is] when enough people understand and believe in manifestation and start creating their own future."

The ex-Premier League striker later states that by using "the techniques of manifestation" the future "will be changed" into "what we always wanted it to be".

Yet, the eccentric monologue didn't quite have Lambert's desired impact with fans instantly comparing him to Saints legend Matt Le Tissier, who has been the face of conspiracy theories in football since speaking out against the Covid vaccine.

"First Matt Le Tissier, now Rickie Lambert is in on the Q-Anon style stuff. I am calling for a complete shutdown on ex-Southampton footballers until we can find out what the hell is going on," quipped one clever supporter. "This is a great video for anyone who thinks heading should be banned in football," harked another.

"Maddest thing is that this wasn’t recorded at 5am in a random geeza’s kitchen after party," joked a third. "Couldn't manifest more than 3 goals in his 36 appearances with Liverpool all the same," blasted a fourth.

While a fifth jibbed: "When you order Matt Le Tissier off Wish."
