Ex-Arsenal star Jack Wilshere agreed to incredibly low wages at new club

Former Arsenal star Jack Wilshere has reportedly agreed to accept an incredibily low wage to return to football with Danish club Aarhus.

Wilshere had been without a club since leaving Championship side Bournemouth in the summer after a six-month spell at the Cherries.

He did return to the Gunners in a bid to maintain his fitness, though boss Mikel Arteta frequently played down talk that the midfielder could return to action with the Premier League side.

And with Arteta refusing to hand him a contract, Wilshere has now opted to depart his former club and join Scandinavian side Aarhus in the Danish Superliga.

Aarhus currently sit seventh in the Danish top-flight, having won six, drawn six and lost six of their 18 matches so far this campaign.

They have now been boosted by the arrival of a man who has won 34 caps for England over the course of his career.

But to complete his move to Ceres Park, Wilshere has agreed to take how an incredibly low wage on a contract until the end of the season.

According to The Sun, the former Arsenal star will take home just £5,000 before bonuses at the Danish club.

That means that he will not even be one of the highest earners, with Federick Tingager understood to earn around £6,700 per week and captain Patrick Mortensen thought to be on £5,700 per week.

While he will be on a cut-price wage, Wilshere has insisted that he is looking forward to getting started with his new side.
