Everton striker Moise Kean has been heavily criticised for his immaturity after he was sent off against Huddersfield Town in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Summer signing Andros Townsend scored a late winner in the 79th minute to send the Toffees through into the next round, despite being down to ten men at that point.

Nigerian winger Alex Iwobi opened the scoring in the 26th minute before The Terriers equalised on the stroke of halftime through Tom Lees.

However, despite making sure they are in the draw for third-round, it was Italian forward Kean that stole the headlines after a coming together with Huddersfield midfielder Sorba Thomas.

The Juventus academy product was tackled by Thomas but obviously felt it was a strong challenge and reacted badly, racing towards the 22-year-old and barging him right in front of the referee.

Of course, Thomas didn’t react well to the shove and the pair squared up, Kean then appeared to push his opponent near his face before being separated by the referee and teammates.

Although the impact wasn’t an out and out punch, when you raise your hand to someone you are always going to be sent off in today’s game, and many fans believe Kean should have known that.

On Twitter, Toffees fans called the 21-year-old ‘absolutely stupid’ and labelled his decision to start the handbags ‘ridiculous and silly’.

Kean had a goal, potentially, wrongfully disallowed earlier in the match when he appeared to beat he slotted past the keeper after appearing to beat the offside trap, but the linesman did not agree.

Some Everton supporters do not believe the 21-year-old should have been given his marching orders because both players engaged in the argy-bargy.

But, although that is the case, Kean imitated the coming together right in front of referee Michael Donohue and he did raise his hand, therefore, it is hard to see any other card being given.

Speaking after the match about the incident, Everton manager Rafa Benitez said: “He is a young player and has to learn from it.

“The reaction from the players was great and you could see the reaction from the fans."

Kean has struggled in his time at Merseyside, scoring just twice in 32 league appearances, however, he enjoyed a great spell out on loan with Paris Saint-Germain.

Playing alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, the striker scored 13 in 26 Ligue 1 appearances and some fans are desperate to see him return to the French capital permanently.
