Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucoure returned from suspension to face Newcastle as manager Sean Dyche made three changes.

Amadou Onana was also back after missing two matches with a groin problem, meaning the Toffees boss was able to select his first-choice midfield again.

With Seamus Coleman injured and Mason Holgate banned, Ben Godfrey came in at right-back with James Garner and Demarai Gray dropping to the bench.

Newcastle also made three changes from the 6-1 thrashing of Tottenham with Callum Wilson replacing Alexander Isak up front, and Miguel Almiron and Matt Targett coming in for Dan Burn and Jacob Murphy.

Centre-back Fabian Schar was declared fit after coming off with a hamstring problem at the weekend while winger Anthony Gordon, who left Goodison Park in acrimonious circumstances in January, was among the substitutes.
