Everton MUST keep Anthony Gordon, insists former Toffees goalkeeper Tim Howard… but claims if the $71m Chelsea target does leave ‘they have to get something in return’
- Tim Howard believes it is critical to Everton’s growth not to lose Anthony Gordon
- Chelsea have been the main team interested in signing Gordon this window
- Frank Lampard believes he does not have to worry about Gordon leaving
USMNT legend and former Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has said that the club must keep its star winger Anthony Gordon, or at least make sure they get something good back from Chelsea if he does depart.
Chelsea have been very interested in Gordon and reports state they would be willing to pay up to $71million for the 21-year old but Everton want more.
‘They’ve got to keep Gordon, they’ve got to keep him,’ Howard told NBC following their 1-1 draw with Leeds Tuesday.

Gordon scored in the 17th minute of Everton’s 1-1 draw against Leeds United Tuesday
‘And if they don’t what I would say is, with the players they’ve bought in they have to get something in return as he goes to Chelsea.
Gordon did nothing in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw to lower his value after being named man of the match following his goal in the 17th minute.
Gordon also drew praise from his manager Frank Lampard, who sounded relieved to be near the completion of the transfer window.

‘Yeah I don’t have to worry about him anymore. You know there’s a couple more days,’ he said post-match.
‘You saw the worth he is to this club, attitude amazing and I always I told him from the day I joined the club I want more goals from you because, he’s got everything.
‘An attitude and ability, speed, and great finish. And that’ll give him confidence to carry on with that. And we’re playing games at the minute without a striker, an out an out striker as such. So we need that input from our wingers.’
Howard played at Everton for 10 seasons, making over 300 premier league appearances
