Everton may be hit with points deduction THIS season as PL respond
Sean Dyche won’t get distracted by Everton’s financial issues
Everton could reportedly be hit with a points deduction this season after the Premier League apparently told clubs that an investigation into the Toffees’ alleged financial fair play breaches will be completed within the next two months. The league referred Everton to an independent commission to investigate the club’s spending last season.
The Goodison Park outfit recorded losses of £371.8million over the last three years. Per Premier League rules, clubs are only allowed to lose £105m in a three-year period.
Everton are now at risk of being punished this season as furious rivals have reportedly been told by the Premier League that the investigation could conclude by the end of the campaign. At least six clubs apparently wrote to the authorities demanding greater transparency over the investigation.
The rivals have reportedly urged the Premier League to conclude its investigation this season. The letters supposedly insisted that a failure to do so could see two successive relegation battles affected and therefore up to six teams potentially seeking compensation should Everton stay up and be found guilty.

According to the Daily Mail, those clubs have been assured that the investigation will be wrapped up before the season finishes. If Everton are found guilty, they will risk a potentially damaging points deduction.
The Toffees are 15th in the top flight but are just two points above the relegation zone. Each team below Sean Dyche’s side have at least one game in hand over the Merseysiders, with West Ham and Southampton having both played twice less.
Dyche said this week that he has been given assurances that a statement put out this week is correct. The Everton boss – who replaced Frank Lampard in January – would rather focus on on-field matters.
“Things before my time, they’ve covered it in the club statement so I’m happy to go along with that and I’m more focused on what happens on the pitch,” the former Burnley manager said.

“The club have assured me their statement is correct and the rest will go down to the powers-that-be to do what they have to do.”
Everton said: “Everton Football Club is disappointed to hear of the Premier League’s decision to refer an allegation of a breach of Profit & Sustainability regulations to an independent commission for review.
“The club strongly contests the allegation of non-compliance and together with its independent team of experts is entirely confident that it remains compliant with all financial rules and regulations.
“Everton is prepared to robustly defend its position to the commission. The club has, over several years, provided information to the Premier League in an open and transparent manner and has consciously chosen to act with the utmost good faith at all times. The club will not be making any further comment at this time.”
