Everton have three strikers but star says Michael Keane is one of best finishers
Defender Michael Keane has been branded one of Everton’s best finishers following his stunning late equaliser against Tottenham.
The relegation-threatened Toffees have struggled massively in front of goal this season with just 23 goals in 29 games – the joint-worst return in the Premier League. Strikers Neal Maupay, youngster Ellis Simms and injury-plagued Dominic Calvert-Lewin have managed just a goal each for the club this term.
So it was looking grim for Sean Dyche’s side who, having been reduced to 10 men, fell behind to Harry Kane’s penalty. However, to their credit, Everton kept plugging away and, after Lucas Moura had been dismissed to make it 10 vs 10, Keane lashed home the equaliser in added time.

It was an impressive strike for a centre-back but it came as no surprise to his teammates, who have regularly witnessed Keane’s finishing prowess first-hand in training.
Everton captain Seamus Coleman said: “I think if you speak to lads around the training ground we always say Michael Keane is one of the best finishers at the Club.

“It was an unbelievable goal from him. He has got serious technique. In the finishing drills, I'm not just saying it, but you do see similar goals [to the ones against Spurs] from him – he's got that much ability in front of goal. I'm delighted for him. Keano is a great lad, we all love him.
“[To come from behind again] shows that we're fighting. It shows the mentality is there and it shows the crowd how much we really want to fight for this football club. It's a point – that's all it is.
“We understand the situation and how many teams are involved, so to show a good mentality and mindset today was so important. I think we did that and we got what we deserved in the end. We need to make this place hard to come to and I think we're doing that."
Keane had been completely frozen out by previous Everton boss Frank Lampard but has been restored to the side since Dyche took charge and, at present, it looks to be an inspired decision.
