Everton fans left split over ‘sexy’ yet ‘hideous’ salmon throwback kit

Everton fans have been left split after the club revealed their salmon throwback away kit.

Not for the first time Toffees’ fans have been left split regarding the club, but their 90s retro salmon away kit is the latest to spark debate amongst fans.

Everton dropped their reveal video on Friday morning for the new Hummel away kit which is inspired by the club’s iconic 1992-94 away shirt and a similar colour to Umbro’s 2019/20 away strip design.

The one minute video included grained footage as if looking through the lens of a 90s camera, alongside clips of models and Liverpudlian band Spinn, whose song ‘Outside of the Blue’ plays throughout the video.

But the bold design and colours of the kit has unsurprisingly left Everton fans torn, with fans claiming it’s “A thing of beauty,” and called it “sexy.”

A third fan commented: “Hummel have smashed it this year,” with another saying: “Really loved that 90s salmon kit and this is great!!”

Despite the support on the retro feel of the kit, not everyone is happy with it, with one fan commenting: “Haha no thanks guys reveal the real one now…”

A second fan said: “No more salmon or pink!!!! What's wrong with white and yellow! Won't be spending my money on it!”

Whilst another wrote: “It’s the cheapest looking, most awful football shirt I’ve ever seen!” With a fourth simply calling it “hideous.”

Hummel’s attempts at Everton’s first Premier League away shirt are sure to catch the eye of football fans next season as Sean Dyche looks to build upon the side’s final day escape from relegation last season.

Everton’s first signing of the summer saw 38-year-old Ashley Young join on a free transfer from Aston Villa.

While ex-Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth forward Arnaut Danjuma is close to finalising his move to Goodison Park.
