Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss Friday’s crunch home clash with Tottenham in the Premier League.

Striker Calvert-Lewin remains unavailable for the fixture at Goodison Park due to the abductor problem that kept him out of Monday’s goalless draw at Brighton.

Fellow England international Jordan Pickford, sidelined of late by an abdominal injury, is fit to return to action in the Spurs match, as are Allan, Andre Gomes and Josh King.

But Calvert-Lewin’s continued absence will come as a huge blow to the Toffees ahead of a crucial match in the race for European football.

Everton have failed to win any of their last four Premier League matches and are in danger of missing out on European football altogether following a strong start to the season.

Ancelotti’s side sit eighth in the Premier League, seven points behind West Ham who occupy fourth, but have a match in hand still.

Meanwhile, Mourinho’s side – who have played a game more – lie just one point ahead of Everton in seventh and defeat for either team on Friday night could prove decisive in the race for Europe.

Calvert-Lewin, alongside Richarlison, has been Everton’s stand-out player this season, having netted 14 times in 26 top-flight appearances.

His fine form in front of goal has seen him earn a place in the England senior set-up ahead of this summer’s Euros.

Ancelotti, speaking at his pre-match press conference on Thursday, said Calvert-Lewin was set to be available next week, along with Yerry Mina, who came off against Brighton with an adductor injury, Fabian Delph and Bernard.

Everton face a trip to Arsenal seven days after the Tottenham clash.

Abdoulaye Doucoure and Jean-Philippe Gbamin are also on the injury list – the latter has been ruled out for the season by his latest setback, a knee issue suffered ahead of the Brighton game.

In positive news, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is available again for the fixture with Tottenham
