An estate agent accused of sending a racist tweet from his personal account after the Euro 2020 final has been sacked.
Andrew Bone, 37, was suspended by real estate firm Savills when the company investigated a post from his Twitter account that allegedly said "N****** ruined it for us" after England lost to Italy on penalties.
Mr Bone turned himself in at a police station and was arrested on suspicion of an offence under the Malicious Communications Act, Greater Manchester Police said in July.
The tweet in question was directed at England stars Bukayo Saka, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford, all of whom missed penalties during the shootout defeat two months ago.
Bone, from Sale, Greater Manchester, claimed his profile had been hacked.
Following the incident, Bone's stepfather spoke to Mail Online and claimed his relative had been "hacked".
Robert Dutson said: "He didn't post the remark. His account has been hacked.
"That is not him. He is not a racist. The tweet appears to have come from a device not used by this account before."
But Savills have sacked him from his job as a commercial building manager, the firm confirmed in a statement.
Savills today said: "We can confirm that following a period of suspension, the contract of an employee alleged to have sent a racist tweet from a personal social media account post the Euro 2020 Final has been terminated and the employee has left the business.
"We understand that Greater Manchester Police force investigations continue and are therefore unable to comment further at this time."
Detective Inspector Matt Gregory of Greater Manchester Police said when Bone was arrested: "The actions of a small number of people overshadowed what was a hugely unifying event for our country on Sunday evening.
"We are firm in our commitment, any racist abuse whether online or off is not acceptable."
When contacted by Reach PLC on Thursday, Greater Manchester Police said they did not wish to comment on Bone's sacking.
