Erling Haaland 'open to waiting a year before £170m move to Chelsea'
Erling Haaland ‘is open to waiting another year before securing £170m move to Chelsea’ as Thomas Tuchel’s European champions open up talks over summer transfer which interests the Borussia Dortmund starlet
- Chelsea have opened talks over a £170million move for striker Erling Haaland
- The Borussia Dortmund forward is a wanted man after 41 goals last season
- Haaland is open to a Chelsea move, especially to work under Thomas Tuchel
- The Norwegian could delay his Blues arrival by a year should Dortmund keep him
Erling Haaland is keen on a move to Chelsea this summer but is also open to waiting another year for a Stamford Bridge transfer, according to reports.
As revealed by Sportsmail on Monday, the European champions have opened talks over a potential £170million move for the Borussia Dortmund striker, who netted 41 goals in 41 games for the German side last season in all competitions.
Haaland is keen to work under German head coach Thomas Tuchel at the Blues, who could be open to offering players such as Tammy Abraham in return to secure the Norwegian striker’s signature.

But according to The Telegraph, the 20-year-old is open to spending another year at Dortmund if Chelsea can’t find an agreement this summer, providing Haaland could discuss another move to west London next year.
German boss Tuchel has told the Chelsea hierarchy, including club director Marina Granovskaia, that a centre-forward is a priority position for the Champions League winners to strengthen in this summer’s transfer window.
The Blues signed former RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner for £47.5million last summer but scored just six Premier League goals all last year, with £89million signing Kai Havertz netting just nine times in all competitions.
A move to Chelsea appeals to Haaland as he ponders over his next transfer move this year
A move for Tottenham talisman Harry Kane is deemed to be too difficult given the rivalry with fellow Londoners Spurs, while prolific former Blues man Romelu Lukaku recently revealed his desire to remain at Inter Milan for next season.
Yet Haaland, who is represented by super-agent Mino Raiola, would command wages of around £300,000-a-week though Chelsea’s financial position under Roman Abramovich puts them in strong contention to snapping up the Norwegian.
As well as a centre forward, Blues boss Tuchel would like more options at centre back, centre midfield and right wing-back while around 14 players could leave either on loan or on permanent transfer.

Haaland joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg for around £18million in January 2020 and has since scored 57 goals in just 59 appearances for the Ruhr-land club.
His superb goalscoring record, as well and his pace and strength in front of goal, means Dortmund can command a significant transfer fee for the 20-year-old this summer.
But the Bundesliga club insist they want to keep Haaland for another season, even though they finished 14 points behind German champions Bayern Munich this season.
Doubts also remain over the future of England winger Jadon Sancho at Dortmund, who has been linked to Manchester United once again this summer.
