Erik ten Hag to have higher net spend than Jurgen Klopp after a year at Man Utd
Erik ten Hag is set to take his Manchester United net spend higher than Jurgen Klopp's at Liverpool.
Despite criticism of the Glazers, Ten Hag has been backed in the transfer market since his arrival at Old Trafford last year. The Red Devils spent in excess of £200million last summer on Antony, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia.
And that's been followed up this summer by the arrivals of Mason Mount for an initial £55m and Andre Onana in a deal worth up to £47m – with another signing on the way.
News broke over the weekend that United had agreed a fee of £64m plus £8m in add-ons with Atalanta for Rasmus Hojlund, filling the striker void Ten Hag has been trying to solve.

There's yet to be any major departures from the club during his tenure, with Anthony Elanga's £15m move to Nottingham Forest the biggest sale. And that means his net spend will reach £340m once Hojlund is completed.
In comparison, Klopp's currently stands at £322m in his near eight years at Anfield. He's splashed the cash on the likes of Virgil van Dijk (£75m) and Darwin Nunez (£64m).
He's also made his third most expensive signing this transfer window in Dominik Szoboszlai, with Reds chiefs paying RB Leipzig £60m to secure his services.

But Klopp's spending has been offsetted by 14 outgoings in excess of £10m. Philippe Coutinho's £142m switch to Barcelona was by far and away the largest money maker.
The exits of Sadio Mane (£27.5m) and Christian Benteke (£27m) are the second and third biggest and have helped balance the books.
Although Klopp could overtake Ten Hag again if Liverpool's approach for Romeo Lavia is successful, with Southampton demanding £50m for the teenage midfielder.
