Eric Bailly’s advice to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before Man Utd landed Amad Diallo
Eric Bailly has opened up on the conversation he had with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the transfer of Amad Diallo.
Manchester United reached an agreement with Atalanta for Amad last summer though the forward only made the move in January.
He scored his first goal for the Red Devils in the Europa League draw with AC Milan, netting a superb backwards header.
The 18-year-old hails from the Ivory Coast, just like new team-mate Bailly, with the defender playing a role in the transfer.
Bailly said: “I knew him before and I remember Ole talked to me about the guy, I know him, he’s very humble, quiet, doesn’t speak a lot.
“I said he’s a good guy, he has the talent. Keep him and we will enjoy the talent.”
Before joking: “I do everything, agent and big brother, but I’m happy for him!”
Amad had been on the pitch just five minutes before putting United ahead on Thursday night. Though Serie A giants AC Milan fought back and netted an injury time equaliser in the first leg of the tie.
Solskjaer said: “He [Amad] is creative and he plays with freedom. Great pass from Bruno [Fernandes] by the way, that’s what makes the goal.
“Amad, he has been on the pitch before, but a good goal. He has loads to learn and he’ll be better having had that [time].
“I’m sure the players, the ones who get chances, they take them. Amad took his chance today when he came on.
“We hope Anthony [Martial] is not too bad, we hope Marcus [Rashford] may hopefully [be back]. Definitely for the away tie, we don’t know about the weekend but let’s see.

“We’ll get players back hopefully, they’ll get players back, so it’ll be a good game with two good teams. Hopefully, Marcus is ready for next weekend on Thursday, I’m not sure about the weekend.
“[Edinson] Cavani, maybe as well for the Milan game away. We should be putting a stronger team on paper anyway.”
