England and Wales fans violently clashed in Tenerife on a day of disappointing results for both nations at the Qatar World Cup. Videos on social media show both sets of supporters fighting while on holiday on the island.
Dozens of individuals can be seen getting involved in ugly clashes, with chairs and punches thrown outside Tenerife’s Revolution and O’Neill’s bars. Viral footage shows tensions rising as both England and Wales featured across the other side of the globe in Qatar.
One of the clips on Twitter is captioned: “England v Wales pre-match in Tenerife,” alongside a laughing emoji.
The video begins with fans in England shirts on one side of the road and another group of Welsh supporters on the other. One Three Lions fan can be seen punching a rival individual to the ground.

Several punches are then thrown before the individual who was punched is then clattered with a chair. The same chair is then thrown at one of the England fans.
The camera then pans to the Revolution bar where another fight breaks out. An individual is thrown to the floor before a mass brawl erupts.
Some fans who do not want to be involved can be seen departing the scene, while screams are also heard. Several other smaller fights then occur before tensions begin to simmer.
A person behind the camera can be heard laughing before shouting: “This is great!” The footage appears to be filmed from a balcony across the road from both bars.

The brawls came on the day of an underwhelming England performance against the USA. Wales’ chances of reaching the knockout rounds took a major blow several hours earlier.
Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions staggered to a goalless draw with the Americans but remain top of Group B thanks to their 6-2 rout of Iran last week. Wales were beaten 2-0 by Iran and must now beat England on Tuesday to have any chance of reaching the last 16.
Rob Page’s side were poor against Iran and deserved their defeat. But both Iranian strikes came in the nine minutes of second-half added-time. Wales had goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey sent off for a crude kung-fu kick on striker Mehdi Taremi.
Tensions between English and Welsh fans will come as a worry to the authorities with plenty riding on Tuesday’s Group B clash between the two sides. England need a win to be sure of finishing top of the group and to be in with a chance of an easier first knockout round tie. Wales need to win, while a victory by three goals could sensationally knock England out of the tournament.
