England boss Gareth Southgate has been handed conflicting advice over Jack Grealish ahead of Tuesday’s Euro 2020 showdown against Germany. Aston Villa captain Grealish and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka are hoping to keep their places for the last-16 clash after starring in last week’s win over the Czech Republic.

Grealish set up Raheem Sterling’s winner against the Czechs to ensure England went into the knockout stages as Group D winners.

The 25-year-old, who has been linked with a £100m move to Manchester City ithis summer, was making his first start of the tournament. And he vindicated Southate’s decision to pick him after fans had clamoured for him to be included from the kick-off.

Saka also more than justified his inclusion with a man-of-the-match display full of energy and attacking intent, with the Gunners winger having carved out the opening that led to Sterling’s decisive header.

And Southgate has been given differing opinions on whether to keep faith with the pair as the Three Lions weighs up whether to bring Mason Mount and Phil Foden back into the team.

Former England winger Darren Anderton believes both players deserve to remain in the team following their “outstanding” performances against the Czechs.

But Wayne Rooney says Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho should come into the side.

“I thought Grealish, and Saka were outstanding against the Czech Republic – especially Saka,” ex-Tottenham star Anderton told GentingBet.

“I would not be surprised to see both starting against Germany, though it’s such a tough decision Gareth has to make on Foden given his quality.”

“Rashford is ideal for the job and one of Raheem Sterling, Bukayo Saka or Jadon Sancho would complete my forward line.

“Raheem has been in brilliant form and Saka impressed against the Czechs, while Sancho knows the German players the best, so I don’t think you could lose with whichever option you chose.

“Their centre backs will push to the halfway line. The first thought when England win it should be to play into the channels and have Rashford, and Sterling/Saka/Sancho going in behind. Having runners will get England up the pitch and take Germany’s counterpress away.”
